Maui – Says It All
Maui is truly one of the most spectacular islands in the world. Each year, visitors to Maui come from all over the world to sample the Hawaiian food, polynesian culture, island lifestyle, various eco-systems, almost perfect weather, and see the incredibly golden-sandy beaches.
Maui is famous world-wide for its 30 miles of crystal-clear water and gentle beaches. From the west side of Maui to the Kihei and Wailea areas, Maui’s beaches are some of the best in the world.
Near Lahaina Town, Baby Beach is one of the most popular, family-oriented beaches on Maui. The waters are calm, as the beach is protected by several reefs over 100 feet from the shoreline.
Known for outstanding restroom and picnic/grill facilities, Airport Beach has a grassy knoll area that is nice for sunbathing. The water is much deeper at Airport Beach, and you will see a more diverse selection of tropical fish, rays, and octopus.
D.T. Fleming Beach Park is a great place to spend a half-day sunning, boggie boarding, and enjoying the incredible views of Moloka’i.
Stay on Hwy 30 past D.T. Fleming Beach and you’ll soon come to Slaughterhouse Beach. There’s some stairs to go down, but it’s an incredible beach.
One of the best snorkel spots on West Maui is Black Rock Beach at the Sheraton
Maui Resort & Spa. Black Rock is famous for calm, crystal-clear water and is perfect for families with small children and snorkel beginners.
Lahaina Town hosts some of the best sports bars on Maui, and tourists come from all over to watch popular NFL and college football games on Saturday and Sunday. The NBA is also shown, along with MLB teams, soccer matches, and professional fights.
Lahaina Sports Bar is one of the largest Maui sports bars, with a lot of TV’s, good drinks, excellent appetizers, and one of the best pizzas on Maui.
Spanky’s Riptide Sports Bar is also very popular, also sporting a lot of TV’s. It’s popular because you can sit and watch several sporting events at one time.
The Dirty Monkey on Front Street is also a good sports bar.
Food Trucks on Maui are becoming very popular — even though they’ve always been a favorite of both locals and tourists. Some of the best food on Maui can be found on food trucks throughout the island.
I have two FAV Food Trucks!
Gyro King can be found at the Home Depot near the Kahului Airport, just across the street from the Wal-Mart. Gyro King offers the best Greek Gyro and salads
you’ll find anywhere on Maui. Gyro King has an extensive menu and the prices
Another food truck is Pua’a BBQ, offering one of the best pork belly and pulled pork sandwiches on Maui. Seriously, Pua’a BBQ has some of the BBQ on the island.
Steve’s Best Breakfast Value! No question here — it’s 808 Grindz.
Steve’s FAV Pizza in Lahaina! I really like the pizza at Lahaina Sports Bar and the gourmet pizza by Surfside Woodfire Pizza Kitchen.
In Paia on the windward side of Maui, there’s Baldwin Beach that is popular with both locals and visitors to Maui, and Ho’okipa Beach is just past the town of Paia. Just before Hana is the famous Black Sand Beach.

Eating & Drinking. Oh, yea. You’ve also got to eat and drink while visiting Maui. Well, for breakfast The Gazebo in Napili is a “must-do tradition,” along with the Kihei Café. For pizza, try Prison Street Pizza in Lahaina or Dollie’s Pub & Café in Napili.
In the upcountry town of Makawao are two good places to eat – Casanova Italian Restaurant and Makawao Steak House. Stop at this “Hawaiian cowboy” town on your way down from a sunrise visit at Haleakala Crater.
Spanky’s Riptide sports bar is open again and the well-known Paia Fish Market has opened a restaurant on Front Street in Lahaina. Also in Lahaina, stop by The Dirty Monkey for a large selection of craft beers and specialty whiskeys.
